On 5th September 2008, at the Glasgow Marriot Hotel, this exceptional event took place in conjunction with the The Scottish News of the World and FirstGroup Plc. BBC Scotland's Jackie Bird hosted the evening, with Deputy First Minister Nicola Sturgeon MSP and Lorraine Kelly presenting the Awards on stage.

This glittering black-tie evening is one of the most prestigious events of its kind in Scotland and is supported by many celebrities from the worlds of show business, media and sport. This year was no exception. We raised the roof with a special live performance from the Red Hot Chilli Pipers, who are now in demand all over the world to play at private events for Sean Connery, Ewan McGregor and many more. Alongside the Chillis, the X Factor favourites, the MacDonald Brothers, entertained us with some great songs to round off what was truly an amazing night. An incredible £107,000 was raised for Bighearted Scotland and we send our sincere heartfelt thanks to all who made this night such a resounding success.
